2 APES CONTAINER

APES CONTAINER movement for primitive approach is an experimental project of an artistic collectivity in action; mental and practical encounter of 8 individuals who all finished their studies in The Netherlands. Apes Container started in September 2008, when 8 artists from different practices and cultures came together to explore and investigate the realms of each other’s practices through inter- and trans- disciplinary collaborations. In September 2010 they joined forces in a cooperative economical effort and christened their ongoing exchange by becoming a Non for Profit Cultural Organisation.

Valeria Cosi

Born in Florence in 1984, she migrated to The Netherlands in 2004 to study Modern dance at Codarts Rotterdam Dance Academy, where she got  her diploma in 2008. In the same year she started practising Photography and creating the bases for what in September 2010 will become Stichting Apes Container- Movement for Primitive Approach.

After her studies she started creating her own works, participating in festival and exhibitions, such as Opendans, Bjcem, Air5, Fabbrica Europa, Stokholm Fringe. She is working as a freelance photographer as well as teaching and choreographing, for both amateurs and professionals. Her latest researches focus on combining movement with photography and electronic sound as well as the image of femininity in the society

M. Eugenia Demeglio

Born in Italy in 1985.
After graduating in Italy in Art and Dance Highschool, in 2008 she obtained a BA in Choreography at CODARTS, Rotterdam and in 2011 an MA in Curatorial Practice at University College Falmouth, UK.
Her works have been presented in various Institutions both in The Netherlands and Italy, among others Theater L/V, Korzo Theater, Utrecht Academiegebouw, Nederlandse Architectuur Instituut, Rotterdam Film Festival, Festival Lunatica, Festival OpenDans, AIR5 Festival, Etalage Festival, Fondazione Pistoletto, Artissima2012.

Her production includes movement performances, installations, videos and (body) sculptures. The main focuses of her practice are cross-fertilisation and the arrangement of frameworks fostering individuality within collaboration.
